To All,

I talked to Paul telephonically yesterday. He almost succumbed to a stroke a few months ago. His family moved to Indiana in December and he is now experiencing speedy recovery. Although he may wish to live a simple life without bothering people, I deem it warm for his students to proactively deliver intellectual and/or financial candle lights in everyone's own style. Your warm touch will be well received. His address and phone # can be found in previous e-mails below.

Sincerely,

De-chu C. Tang, PhD

Dear All,

I had a phone conversation with Lin Kuo-liang, who was in Biol (class 16) for a couple years before transferring to Sociology and graduated in 1975. He said that Paul had a stroke in July of 2006 and has been in physical therapy and recovered significantly from the stroke. In fact, he can now drive around. Kuo-liang is not sure about their financial situation. It is possible Paul and his wife receive some retirement fund from the church group, but not from Tunghai. I am not sure if they receive social security or not. My impression is that they own the house in NC and try to sell it and move permanently to IN to be with their family and friends.

I am sure they are happy to see or hear from any Biol graduates. Their number is 317-883-8802

The following contact information was from Li-Yang Chang (who was at NC where O'Paul used to live before moving to IN) forwarded to me by One One . Looks like it is about 6 miles south of Indianapolis beltway.

I know a little bit about O'Paul's pension situation. My understanding was that, for some reason, Paul was listed as missionary, rather than a regular faculty by Tunghai. He therefore could not receive retirement benefits administered by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. His current pension came from the Christian Ministry, which sent him to Tunghai.

I agree with Shu-Jen that we should visit Paul and find out what will be needed. Does anyone have Paul's current address and telephone number?
